You are correct, The Thule cargo bag, # TH869, is 40 inches long and the bar spread for Rola roof racks on your 2006 Toyota Prius are closer to 26 inches apart on center. You could still use both but part of the bag would ride on top of the bars and it is not an ideal situation.

In the picture for the Rightline Saddlebag (they should have called it an SUV Backpack!) the carrier is secured to the rear bar of a roof rack. But you do not have to have a roof rack to install the bag on your 2005 Dodge Durango. If your Durango does not have that bar you will just need to use the optional car clips, # RL100605, which are sold separately to secure the bag to the vehicle. For the 2000 Toyota Sienna with a factory roof rack (that includes cross bars that run side to side), the Thule Outbound Roof Cargo Bag, # TH868, will fit. The bag will attach to the crossbars using straps that are attached to the bag; two at the front and two at the back. The straps include a buckle system that you pull tight manually. As long as you have attached the straps to the cross bars and tightened them down, the bag will not leave the roof in an emergency braking situation.

I've used similar products and the past, and unless this is for a one-time use, you'll be much better off installing a roof rack or using existing roof rails to secure a roof mounted cargo bag.
